The Science Department at Norman Thomas High School is comprised of eighteen teachers and two laboratory specialists under my leadership. We work as a cohesive unit to foster and kindle student's interest in the wonderful world of science. Our mission and thrust is to maximize student's achievement and increase the percentage of pupils passing the Regents Examinations in Living Environment, Chemistry, and Physics. In order to augment the participatory process in the Science Program, we periodically organize The Science Fair to proudly display our student's work on Hydroponic Gardening and Robotics Research.
We are very proud in our department to offer you a variety of selective courses. These courses are all credit bearing and scheduled to be offered in the fall term and continuing through the spring term. The only selective course that gives you an opportunity to learn more in depth and breath is Biology.
You will be available to take electives courses upon the completion of the prerequisite courses of the Living Environment and the Physical Setting/Chemistry. You may apply for this elective course by completing the Application Form that your science teacher gives you and returning it to the teacher completely filled out and signed.
